The long march

1158_timecode

Post-production on Lost Highways took 20 months.

It was mainly a one-man show - and started with a rough "jazzy edit" that took a week or two to do. This was done quickly, in low-resolution to get a feel for what we had

This established the direction we were heading in.

Another 5 months were spent refining this and then we belatedly realised we needed more material.

After this another 9 months was spent refining the visuals (the titles, the black & white film effect) before attention was turned to the soundtrack - (the music, foley, dialogue editing).

Once again more filming was done to capture needed sound material.

Finally, the images were made broadcast safe, as well as tweaked - with another 3 months of final fixes. improvements and removals

If I had been working on it full time, who knows, maybe it would only would have taken a couple of months.
