XML-Pro NEWISH

No working demo available. Seamlessly translates FinalCut Pro XML into Pro Tools Sessions, and AES-31-3 ADLs, referencing source media, and including clip volume level automation.

XML-Pro is designed for Final Cut Pro workflows for large scale projects such as motion pictures. In such workflows, there is a strong requirement for turnover from picture to sound departments to utilise compositions which reference original source files. Final Cut's own OMF export functionality uses an embeded media technique which does not refer back to original sources, and as such is not suitable for use in these types of workflow. Additionally, there is a strong demand to preserve level automation defined by the picture editor across to audio post production, but this is also omitted from FCP's OMF export.

Traffic http://www.xmedit.com/ NEW

Digital HeavenDownloadable Demo available. Traffic is still in beta but promises to dramatically change the workflow of editors who master it.

With Traffic, you export your timeline as XML and then manipulate the XML inside the Traffic enviroment . E.g.: allowing you to universally & automatically apply & change variables like text & font characteristics to a generator depending on the name of the clip below it.

When you're done, the manipulated XML sequence is imported back into your FCP project to view (or render) the results. The possibilities look endless and, he says with a nerdy flourish, rather powerful.

... Traffic presents a new model in the non-linear editing school of thought. It utilizes whats called a dependency graph, and it’s the same interface that high-end visual effects software like Apple's Shake™ uses. Operators connect “nodes” together to form a chain of events they want to perform on a clip. Traffic employs this node-based interface and has infused it with an editor's mindset. Changes and tweaks which seemed too tedious or even impossible to do can now be done in a matter of seconds...
